A visit to West Dean... part 1

I visited one of my favourite places at the weekend, West Dean, and I took my camera so I could share it with you....

So many images I'm going to have to split it into 2 or maybe even 3 parts...

I don't use this blog anymore so pop over here to see the beauty beyond this gate...

Do pop over...

So this is what you are missing...

As I have said I have stopped posting here.... having merged my two Blogs into one http://upcyclingvintageandotherlife.blogspot.co.uk/

If you had popped across this is what you would have seen....

YESTERDAY....

Oh My.....

Look what the postman has just delivered...

No borders... so no writing...

47inches x 200inches of Joy...

I love it!!
No real idea how old or its heritage do you??

And
For the first time in months I'm fit enough to pop down to the local church craft club... an alternate thurs afternoon group for £1... today making felt doorstops... there is also a very talented group of ladies that form a quilting group I hoping to gain some advise on feet for my cub 4 sewing machine... I really want to give free style machine embroidery a go but am being given conflicting advice...

Anyway I'm off for a little lie down before a bit of community crafting!

And the sun has come out...

Till next time smiles Cass x

AND A WEEK OR SO AGO...

Well spring is definitely in the air...

Primroses and mini daffs are out already... the larger daffodils are not far off once again showing their faces...

I saw the return of the Blue Tit pair... checking out their nest box yesterday...

Mrs Blackbird is busy nest building... gathering moss, grass and last years stems...

I watched the Mrs, just now, pulling up dead grass and putting some into one of my birdbaths... I can only assume to soften them so they'll bend easier... clever girl...

Although not tame, the Mrs was born in my garden so will just get on with things if I am outside... or as things are at the moment standing at an open window...

So do pop over to  upcycling, vintage and other life and let's get reacquainted...

I will be merging this blog with my other blog soon...

Do take a look around the latest Vintage and Very Nice Market Bazaar visit on Saturday 16th in Chichester Part one here and Part two here... these are on my other blog...

The sun is out here for the second day in a row...

Yesterday a friend and I spent a few very enjoyable hours up at the allotment, planting Broad Bean plants, some lettuce seedlings and building a hum dinger of a fire... all the blackberry, raspberry and gooseberry prunings gone up in flames... along with a fair bit of unwanted ivy.
I do always leave some ivy for the wildlife but it can rather takeover! Sadly I totally forgot to take my camera ... next time potatoes  hopefully eh...

I'm shattered today... now off to shower and wash the smoke out of my hair hair... was just too tired yesterday went straight to bed...

Hope your garden/ allotment clear up is well on its way too...

I feel a spurt of seed sowing approaching for the season ahead!!

Till next time sending smiles Cass x

Hemp Oil and Natural Dying...

There is a great online shop called the hemp shop that you may or may not know about...
It is where I buy my yummy Organic Hemp Oil... having tried many types this is by far the best and is 30% off at the mo which is why I thought I'd let you all know...

http://www.thehempshop.co.uk/product-23.htm

They also sell various natural woven and knitted fabrics to dye with, print on or just use as they are...

I have just bought some natural hemp/wool yarn 113g for £3.70 with 10% off at the moment (here)

I'm going to have fun with natural dyes... not done this for years but have recently also acquired some natural spun wool on the hank too...

This is taken from a lovely book, Dyeing with Natural Dyes by Judi Palmer you may like to buy if natural dyeing is of interest to you...

or pop over to see this blog here or here for some fine examples!

and here for natural dyes and seeds.

Help

Also I am considering merging my two blogs, has anyone any experience of doing this... can it be done? do you loose comments, followers etc ??

Till next time keep cosy!!
